Self Care is something we tend to neglect because we are too busy or feel that it’s too much of an indulgence. But did you know that self care is so important for us to live a healthy, happy life? So what can you do NOW to enjoy some self care without the guilt?
1. Nourish Your Body
Take a look at your diet. What does it consist of? Are you regularly consuming take-out or fast food? It’s time to make some changes. Introduce more fresh, whole, real foods. Focus mainly on fresh fruit and vegetables, eating organic as often as possible. When we eat good, clean food our bodies will thrive.
2. Move More
Regular exercise is good for the mind, body, soul and spirit. It’s not necessary to join a gym or train for a marathon. Just spend more time moving. Walk to work instead of always driving. Practice regular stretch sessions before you go to bed. Take your furry friend (or the neighbours furry friend) out for regular walks. Grab a frisbee and a friend and go play in the park. Regular exercise will instil a more positive mindset.
3. Nurture Your Friendships
Make time to nourish and nurture your friendships. Where would you be without your girlfriends? Who would you vent with or share your deepest, darkest secrets with if it wasn’t with your friends. Remember to return the favour and be there for them when they need you most.
4. Take Time Out and Just Breathe
When did you last time you spent time on yourself? Do you enjoy taking a Spa? Being spoilt with a manicure, pedicure or massage? What about meditation? There is nothing better for the soul than being thoroughly spoilt. Now is the time to do that.
5. Switch Off
We all live in a society where being glued to our cell phones, computers, laptops, and iPads is considered necessary. Well, guess what? It’s not. Try an electronics detox for a day (or half a day if that it too much to handle). Switch off all electronics in your home – your phone, the computer, the TV. Now go out and enjoy life without being at everyones beck and call.
