Playtime isn’t just for kids. Playtime is for everyone!
When did our spare time become all about entertainment rather than good old PLAYTIME? Remember the days when you would spend sunny days outdoors, playing on swings, riding your bicycle and climbing trees? Why did that time of your life end?
Why is it so important now to gain that elusive high score on the latest computer game or app? Do you really find that satisfying?
Wouldn’t it be nice to make a return to your childhood, when playtime really was PLAYTIME?
I’m not saying that you need to go climb a tree, but hey, if you want to give that a go, don’t let me stop you.
Why not make your next day off a day of PLAY? But what can a grown person do that is considered fun? The possibilities are endless.
We are now in the throws of Summer here in Australia, and the weather is absolutely amazing. So make the most of that beautiful sunshine and get outdoors.
– Take a leisurely bike ride
Explore a different neighbourhood. Ride to your favourite cafe, treat yourself with a long lunch, then ride home again. Exploring your city or town on a bike will open up new streets and lane ways you may have never before seen.
– Swim at the beach
Enjoy the soft sand between your toes, the gentle waves washing over you. Collect sea shells or just relax and enjoy the sunshine.
– Try a surfing or kite board lesson
A new skill, a challenge to your coordination. Plus, it’s loads of fun!
– Grab a torch or headlight and go for a night time walk.
Looking for wildlife in your neighbourhood or backyard can be fun. Many animals are nocturnal so are quite active at night. Plus at this time of year, you can check out all the amazing Christmas lights.
Maybe it’s Winter in your part of the world, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on PLAYTIME.
– Build a Snowman
Make it a competition, see who can make the funniest or most unique snow man. Costumes and all!
– Make Snow Angels
Rug up and get out and enjoy the cold, crisp, fresh air. Throw yourself down in the snow and go crazy! Keep moving, get your circulation pumping and your muscles moving.
– Try Tobogganing
Who says you have to be a kid to try this? Maybe instead of steep slopes, have your partner or friend drag you along a gentle slope.
– Play Hide and Seek
I would obviously recommend this happens indoors 🙂 Mainly because, if you find a great spot to hide, you don’t want to freeze to death waiting to be found.
Just because we have become adults with responsibilities, doesn’t mean that we can’t still have some fun in our lives. It’s important for our sanity to take time out and loosen up sometimes.
Now get out there and PLAY!
I’d love to hear of your endeavours and what you did to enjoy PLAYTIME!
